Engine Identification

Hello, Guys and Gals,

I need some help identifying my engine so that I can purchase new spark plugs and tune up the car. According to the previous owner, the car has a 360 crate motor, but I cannot verify the displacement or year. Can you tell me where to look for identification as to year and displacement?

Just above the starter, there is a set of raised numbers that end in the displacement. So your's should end in 360.

There should also be some numbers under the cylinder head on the left side front of the block. Not too sure what they are.

Not really sure why it would make a difference, wouldn't any plug for a Small block work?

There are sites out there for spark plug reading why don't you read how the ones you have now are doing and either get the same or go up or down a heat range.

The numbers stamped into the block under the cylinder head are the serial number of the block. That may come in handy. It could help identify the date of manufacture.

I'm thinking once you get the data on the engine, the best source for tune-up specs would be Mopar Performance. As I recall, these are all Magnum motors with carburetors. By the time the Magnum rolled out, Mopar had moved to TBI or MPFI. None of the books in general circulation would have tune-up specs for a 4-bbl Magnum.

how about figuring out what vehicle a slant six cam from? i just bought one for my 73 dart and i dont know how to fihure out where it came from to get gaskets for it
