I am looking for a pair of engine lifting brackets ..I seem to remember them from my big block days.. anyone have a pair they would part with.:burnout:

I think he means the tabs that bolt to both sides of the engine

I generally don't bother with them, I just run a bolt through the chain and go right into the boss

Use the carb lift plate. My son even bought an expensive one to fit a Ford 5.0 (that wound up not fitting my daughter-in-law's intake - BBK). Best way to lift an engine.

yup ..have an aluminum intake..plus ... I am old school

I use an equalizer bar. It's great for installing engines and transes....

be careful with aluminum inakes. If you lift from there you risk stripping threads and dropping engine on foot.

I have been using a carb plate for 20 yrs. and most of the engines I've used it on had aluminum intakes and I've never had a failure. Of course I don't rely on 1/2" long bolts to secure the plate either. I always run studs in my aluminum intakes which increases load capacity. I've even used the carb plate on an iron headed 454 Chevy with an aluminum intake and there aren't many engines heavier than them.

..............I've lifted 440s complete with manifolds and tranny with a carb plate in and out of trucks with out any failures.......kim.......
