I picked up my "original engine" from my 1965 Dodge Dart 270 convertible. The markings on the side is as follows: 24634805 can anyone tell me what this number means? Also I think it is a 225 but how can I be sure? Other numbers I see are 12224 and 1208 also see a code J AAQO does anyone know these markings.

Thanks so much

Bill

easiet way to idetify a RG (225/198) from a G (170 low deck) is the bypass tube...

the bypass hose is between the bottom of the head and the top of the water pump... take a look and you will see...

anyways if the two hose clamps are touching, then its a 170 due to the short deck height... if there is about 2" between them then its a 225 or 198...

now if you look at the alternator from the passenger side, follow the mount to where it bolts to the head (the lower mount not the "T" shaped one), there is a little pad, about 1/4" wide by 2" or so long... it will have a set of numbers, if i remember will be like X-225-XXXXX, or 198 or 170... if the deck has been milled then no dice...
