engine starts without key

Hey guy's I had the car running yesterday without any problems, this morn I went out to warm it up and as I was starting it I heard what sounded like a wire in a fan blade{that didn't happen} But the only way to shut the car off was with the disconnect switch on the battery. Now if I engage the switch the car turns over with out the key.
What gives???? 340 four speed.

My quarter bet on melted shorted wiring at the starter. Guessing you have headers. LOL
 
I never learn, I always expect the worst. How something can work the next day not work. Turns out and I have no idea how it happend but the postive lead to the starter relay had moved and was in contact with the middle lead...something so dumd that you just over look it LOL

Locate the starter relay on left inner fender. Remove the 2 small wires. Turn ignition switch to on. If start engages we've have ruled out everything except short circuits between relay and starter.
 
OOPs fixed faster than we could dianose it.
