not sure if this is the right spot for this question but here it is. i recently pulled the slant 6 motor out of my 72 scamp and was looking to put in a 360 or bigger. i have tried many times to ask other scamp owners who did the same swap with no success. does there have to be many modifications to make this work. if i go with a 360 it should go, right. if i go bigger, do i need to move or cut anything to make it work. i have new k member set up and motor mounts and i understand i need a new trans. any help would be greatly appreciated. also has anyone heard of a chrysler 413 motor, there is a guy in my town selling one with trans for $100. he says it is a 63. thanks again

The easy question first. Yes ,Chrysler made a 413. Personnally I would go with a 440 before a 413.

The 360 should drop right in as long as you have the correct K-frame and mounts. After that there are a few isues to deal with such as, radiator, fuel line, heater core hoses, vacuum hoses. I am not sure on the wiring, maybe somebody else will chime in. You also might want to consider a stiffer torsion bar. Also there is the exhaust to think about. The throttle cable should work, I use a /6 cable with my 360.

You will need the schumacher conversion mounts and you could use your /6 Kmember. I was told that you can use you existing crossmember for the tranny on both. I have heard that the biggest problem with the RB/B swap is the headers, but there are options out there. I live in Northern Utah (Cache Valley) and I have a carb to pan 440/727 combo that I might give you a really good deal on. I bought the motor from a running 73 chrysler. If you are considering a big block in your scamp you should also check out http://www.bigblockdart.com/
