Engine?

The offset plugs give it away. I think Packard was the only company that did that, that I know of. Cool car, Frank. Is it yours?

Already solved by the time I saw this thread, but I was gonna say
Packard. The only company that I know of that used a four barrel carb on a straight eight.
Saw this Packard eight in an Intenational pickup at a local show
Homemade manifold and drive for the 4-71, headers look like two right halves of a small chevy set, with a homemade flange.

Man,,,,,I really like that,,,that is a well thought out system !
I know it’s not a race setup,,,,but it should be very reliable for street service .

....."only company.....?" Well, I was wrong. Buick had a 4bbl straight eight..... but only in 1952, and only in a roadmaster. (wcfb, white cast four barrel) But it wasn't a flathead.

had a 54 roadmaster 1st year of the nailhead
to start it it had a switch on the carb with(i guess) a diode in wiring so you would just hit the gas peddle to get it to crank once it started it stopped cranking

The lady across the street, many many years ago had a 56 Buick. Same deal. Turn the key, floor the gas pedal to get it to crank.

Yeah thought it was a cool idea
Bought it on the cheap
Knew nothing about it
Put a battery in it
Found a piece of metal shorting out the points
Made a gas supply
Turned the key and nothing
Repaired the wire to the carb
Hit the gas pedal and it started cranking
Wtf ....ha
