Anyone here cut a spring seat on a EQ mag head .100"??

We had our RHS heads cut .100" for the correct installed height, but wondering if the EQ's have the same "meat" in the casting.

Thanks!

I think .030 is all you can go but I can find out.

I have personally cut .08" deeper but I have been told that .100" is not a problem. These heads are thick everywhere I don't doubt it one bit. J.Rob

Thanks J.

Didn't know you were on here, too.

Brian, how do you get any kind of installed height with only cutting .030 off of the spring seat? I assume a loooonger valve. For example our RHS cuts required .100 off to get a standard length valve and a 26995 Comp beehive spring to a 1.7 installed height.

I don't use EQ heads...YET! So I'm not completely up on them. Using our valve that we use in the RHS head, and our retainer I.H. was 1.800 with no spring pad milling!

Doug, Hughes Engines cut .100" from mine and also cut down the valve guides. Not sure how much they cut the guides but with the valves they supplied .600 lift is no problem.

Thanks all!

Brian, I like that! But since I've already invested in valves...

Fishy, BRILLANT. I taked to Hughes today, and they verified: .100" is cake. So a cuttin' we will go!
