Hi there guys, ive got a 69 swinger that is a prostreet car, getting ready to finish up the build. The car has a 12 inch tire on it, a 408 with aluminum heads that made 490 corrected horsepower and 508 lbs of torque matched with a 4 speed and 8 3/4 rear with 4.56 gears. Im wondering what the weight would roughly be and what kind of numbers i could expect with this combo. The car is mostly going to be a red light warrior maybe see the track a couple times a year. Just curious to see what itll do. I had a turboed 4.6l 2008 mustang gt that made 477 to the tires and felt like a quick car, weighes in at around 3850, wondering if this swinger wouldve beat that car. Thanks guys.

Mopar for the win....

Way too many variables to be precise...but,

490 "corrected" hp on a engine dyno wants me to think about 450, in the real world.....installed in the car. As far as weight, it's a little bit of a crap shoot not knowing all the particulars. So i'll just use a round figure of 3200 with you in it.

So with the above said, I can see low 11's @ the hi teens, as a possibility. Keep in mind, this is a rough guess at best, and a lot of things will have to be right, not just with the engine, but the car itself, suspension, tires, wheeling that 4spd, etc.

As far as taking on the Stang w/477 @ the rear tires.......likely not! Even carrying 3800lbs.

Good Luck! at least this should get the conversation started. :D
