I am working on my 1975 slant six dart, removing my old Holley 1945 and installing a "new" Carter 4956 BBS carb. My car has the original Evap canister with 3 connections and I know I need to install a new canister to avoid charcoal debris in the new carb. There are lots of threads about changing to these BBS carbs with fewer vacuum ports and I wanted to get a sanity check from you guys to make sure I'm understanding the connections that need to be made when using a new GM style canister with separate purge valve.
Here is a pic of the BBS carb, I'm assuming that's the bowl vent on the right and the PVC inlet on the bottom left, distributor vac is the small port in the middle. The middle pic is the currently available GM vapor canister and purge valve. The GM canisters only have two ports, instead of the three that are on my old OEM Mopar canister. On the right is a diagram I copied from an older thread about this same subject, but I added the light blue line to the carb to show the connection to the bowl vent. In a previous thread Slant Six Dan said you can use these two port canisters, but you have to put in a TEE fitting within a few inches of the canister where it connects to the fuel tank return line. I just wanted you guys to look over my setup here to make sure I'm on the right track before I start ordering parts and removing the old setup. Thank you for any help!
