removal is going well however, we have hit a wall with the exhaust manifold bolts..

we have tried a wrench w/hammer but afraid of stripping. have sprayed heavily with penatrating fluid..

any words of wisdom ? please ..

are you talking the one thru the intake manifold or the two on the back side??

you can try heat but just keep soaking them...

Heat them up good and apply Dexron atf. Smokes like crazy if bolt/nut is hot enough, but 1 or 2 tries with this will usually allow you to break it loose.

can I just take the whole manifold / with carb off the body and just leaver the headder on it ?

Will supply pics sometime today. think we are going to start at the rear of the car and work forward.

let penetrating oil soak in while you work o other stuff . Try heat as well , should come apart after a few sessions

Guys,

The /6 isn't going back in and I cannot use the exhaust for to save a lot of swearing, I am think just to cut the exhaust as close to the enjine as possible...will the engine still come out ?

Cut the exhaust close to manifold and you should be able to take it out . Is the motor still good ?

Yes..36 or 37K miles. Survivor car..I started a thread on the modding..cannot call it a resto other than the normal dings a car gets .The car is actually from Ottawa. driven by the perverbial old man who didn't drive it in the winter...it went through two other owners that had thoughts of restoring or whatever..we drove it for 1.5 sesons..no winter driving for it (really good car cover for storage) ..now we are modding it a bit..the engine has a rebuilt carb and new gas pump last season. Selling engine, rad, trans, diff, the cut exhaust - almost new, and anything else that can go :) I have a guy with first dibs but if you are interested, I will save you name. It wouldn't cost much to stap some of it to a pallet and ship up.
