Hey everyone, my Wife's grandfather needs an Exhaust manifold for a Slant 6 somewhere in the 91-92 year range. It is for a piece of farm equipment that he has and the one that is on it is cracked in two places. Anyone have one laying around that they would sell cheap. We are in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.

Thanks.

I posted the question on another site and got this reply:

"All the manifolds from start to finish were basically the same. The only thing that changed was the choke pocket which was around 1974 or so. That was when they went from the watchspring to the electric choke thermostat."

So according to that information, the manifold that I have might work. Let me know if you want it.

Would $20 plus the shipping work? The thing weighs in at close to 30 pounds so the shipping may be a little steep. It was in a running car and was quiet with no exhaust leaks. Can you use anything else from the /6 engine. Spare carb maybe?

May have one here in Creswell. Will have to look and see. And not that far from you either, but with gas prices it might be cheaper to ship the other one....lol

very good point. LOL see what you have and let me know if you can. I found out last night that I guess I need to act on this as he will need to start using it after the 4th.

Thx.

that sounds fair, I think that the USPS has any size box up to 70 # for like 9.00 maybe that is the way to go. Where are you located? Another member that is only about 1.5 hours away thinks that he may have one too. He is going to check and see. I will get back to you ASAP

Thank you

I'm in Edison, NJ. I'm not sure about the USPS any size box for $9. The standard flat rate box starts at $9.80 and will just barely fit a Thermoquad carb. FedEx may be the best bet but that may be a few $$ also. The problem is we are about 2700 miles apart and the weight of the manifold with the packaging is close to 30 pounds. I guess that you have to decide if the shipping would be more or less cost effective than the 1.5 hour drive one way at the price of gas in your area, plus your time.

the usps flat rate box is anything that fits in THIER specified "flat rate box" (up to 70 lbs.) NOT any size box. you also might also try greyhound. they are reasonable, but only station to station shipping. Doug

Hey, checked on it for you, but we only have one spare and my friend want to keep it around just in case he needs it for one of his cars. Sorry.

No worries, thank you for the effort. I am still looking. May have found one local but need to go and check it out. Not sure if I will be able to get this done for him in time. He needs this piece of equipment next week for hay season.

I've still got the one I just took off the 75 Duster if all else fails. I checked with FedEx and they want $36 to ship it to you but it'll take at least 5 days to deliver. You best bet is locally so good luck.
