I removed this flywheel from an externally balanced '77 Volare with a 360 HP. However, in comparing it to pics of other 130 tooth flywheels for externally balanced 360's I did not see the characteristic three round shallow holes on the backside. It does have a series of drilled holes on the perimeter of the front side that none of my neutrally balanced flywheels have. Now unsure of what I have. No casting numbers or marks so maybe aftermarket? Can you help ID my flywheel ? See pics attached.

I would guess aftermarket, ??? That is a substantial amount of weight in all those holes.

It's just balanced differently. If you plan to use it, I'd have it checked anyway with the rest of the reciprocating assembly.

Agree with all so far, however was hoping for something more definitive. Looked on Mc Leod's website earlier today and found no visual matches. I'm leaning toward aftermarket due to zero cast in Mopar part numbers or identifiers. It is older, been in shed for a decade or so.

I have never seen a 360 flywheel done that way from the mfg. Likely done by a machine shop sometime over the years. This is what a factory 360 10.5" fw would look like.

Different way to balance a 360 external balance flywheel.

And then this is what a used 1977 360 flywheel looks like below:

Here is some interesting info about the '76 - '77 Aspen/Volare.

Talking here the 360 was only available with an automatic trans.

318 was available with 4 spd or automatic.

Guessing your Volare parts car was a 318 4spd car that someone upgraded to a 360 external balance engine and hence the need for the odd external balance flywheel for the convertion.

@GeorgeJets - build plate/Vin identified car as a Canadian built 318 4spd as you suggest.

Was hoping I could say for certain this was for an external balance 360. Since I can't I'll count it as usable on any small block only after having it balanced to the rotating assembly it will be mated to.

Appreciate all responses, thank you.
