External regulator alternator installation

I just installed a rebuilt alternator on my stock 64 Barracuda.
Do you need to polarize it at the regulator? if so which posts?
I am not getting 13 - 14 volts at the battery.
Maybe it is bad

It is a bad one...
Had to re-order

On my 65 Barracuda I was having low voltage at the battey like 12.5 running and 15 volts out of back of alternator, turns out my amp gauge was bad. I bypassed it for now and its like a different car. Voltage is now the same at the battery and the alternator like it should be.

Sure made a huge difference in my headlight brightness and I was having other electrical problems that have went away.
