This is my factory automatic console. Looks to be a 4 speed that they used lucky me.

No need to scrap your Auto console. If you are using a Hurst shifter and not the wonky inland shifter, the auto console can be used with the 4-speed top-plates no problem, and you will be hard pressed to tell the difference once you put on the side carpet strips.

Here's mine. Hope this helps

Auto console can be used for a 4spd. Aandrews is a beautiful example! The reason for the 2nd hump on 4spds was for access to shifter linkages.

What glue do you use for the carpet on the console?

3m spray adhesive for auto upholstery. Available at ant auto body supply store. I got mine at Canadian Tire!

You do have to trim the Auto Console top plate mounting flange a bit to fit the 4 speed top plate to sit down flush.

I must have lucked out. no trimming required, plates fit perfectly.

This is an automatic console, uncut, used in a four speed installation. The top plate is also an auto part that I cut to the same opening dimensions of a four speed top plate, then trimmed with some extruded aluminum and fit with a four speed boot.

I have seen several true four speed console bases, from the factory, in 75 and 76 automatic cars. I think there must have been a bunch of left overs that were used up.

If you look it has a 4 speed cut out for the hump already?
That small cut out in all automatic consoles is so you can get hand in under there and replace the light bulb of shift indicator. Console for manual shifter has larger cut out.

Nice job!!

Anyone know if there is 1967 B9 dark blue spray paint ? Thanks.

Yes. Again, go to most automotive paint stores with the paint code from your car or a painted part off the car and they should be able to match it and make a rattle can with the exact color.

Thanks Steve!

I looked for a 4-speed console for my Barracuda but the prices were ridiculous ! It was cheaper to buy a new 4-speed top plate and convert my auto console. I did get carried away though and bought new ashtray lid and the console cover as well!

Looks awesome Al, I would be doing your recommendations if I was to swap to the 4 year.
Thanks Steve!

Oh the humanity of it all! What a sacrilege there! Using a Hang 10 console and converting into a 4 speed. Or is it a Hang 10 with a 4 speed? Lol

Nice job Dave and looks good. I like that. A “1 of 1” for sure. :poke:

LOL.... i had a rusty hang ten, the rustiest A body that I have personally ever seen. It was however an E58 360 HP car. It really was not economical to fix, so it became a donor for my rust free slant six bench seat crap brown Dart Sport. I painted it the hang ten spinnaker white, but couldn't bring myself to put the hang ten stripes on it.
