A good friend of mine is a truck driver and comes across cars everywhere from just being on the road all the time. He was driving through my area one day and noticed a green Duster with a barn falling down on top of it. The car looked in pretty good condition, so he knocked on the door and asked if the car was for sale. The owner said no.

A few weeks later my friend and I were at a local junkyard not to far from the car and the junkyard owner told us the story on the car. He had known the owner before he was killed in Vietnam. He said that the family didn't have the heart to sell the car and it sat in that barn for decades. The barn is now falling down on top of the car. Here are some shots I took from the road. Sad story...

That's a very common story from Vietnam and people's kids not making it back. Hard to believe there are STILL cars sitting from that time though!!!!! Wow cool find.

Someone should talk to the family and offer to restore it in his honor. I'd love to do a project like that with some kind of a tribute built into it.

I'm guessing that must be a factory color for the car???? I really like the it, anyone know what color it is?

Looks like a very faded Lime Green or Sassy Grass Green.

Looks like FJ5 Limelight. I know of a 71 Cuda that has been sitting since 1982 the owner a friend of mine was killed by lightning.

yep- much betrter than letting it rot (although I can certainly understand the family's reluctance to sell).

My buddy that runs the junkyard said it was a brighter green and has faded over the years to the lighter color you see in the photos.

That would be a nice car to just document for factory markings etc...

get the address and write a letter to them. At least they can ponder the letter which is not as easy as a hang up or door slam. Very nice car and sad story indeed.
