Father Son truck rebuild!

So this quick 3ast rocker oanel replacement is kicking my ***! I just made up this patch piece. I'll get the whole thing welded in tomorrow then I'm off to the other side. Lucky I am smart enough not to replace the whole damn thing this time! I still need to clean up the inner and outer radius so it looks factory but it will be mint when done!

Looks like a bunch of really nice fabrication and patch work.

This was the only way I could get my gap right with this Woo-Tang special aftermarket door!

Not much progress worth photography lately. But finally back on the rust repair on the box. I am really enjoying this and piecing together the inner wheel well is challenging. My son did not get a job this summer because I want him to concentrate on the truck. He has a lifetime of working ahead of him so if I can give him 1 more summer off and teach him some stuff myself then it will be goodfor both of us!

I agree Cley teach him now and he will have a better understanding of how to do things. Much better education then flipping hamburgers at McDonald's or a meaningless job.

Cley, you're a real craftsman with metal work. I wish I was half as good.

Thanks! I'm learning as I go! My big thing is that I hope it lasts! I have watched so many guys have their patch panels rust out in no time and I sure don't want to do this twice!

I enjoy it too! It is very satisfying. Fortunately these first attempts are hidden inside the wheel well and will be covered with Undercoating!

The best part of doing it yourself is you did it not someone else that you paid to have done. Good schooling for your son he will never forget the time working with his dad.

I am finally getting ready to finish weld this patchwork inner wheel well I constructed. It will look less Frankenstein once it's welded and finished. Good thing this ain't no show truck! The other side will be way less work!

Looking good, time to start sanding until your finger tips are bleeding.

Learning again! I remember talking to my Great Uncle about body work 20 years ago and the advice he gave me still rings true! "Use long tools!"

Dang Cley, I'm really jealous of your skills. I gotta start doing something similar on Vixen before too long with her quarters. I'm skeered. LOL
