Hi folks,

Hopefully this is a quick question, quick answer - I have a '75 Dart Sport with a '72 front clip, and I'm missing the driver's side splash shield. I just found one local to me, but the guy who has it isn't sure what year it's from. That little extension at the lower section looks to be from a Sport or maybe Duster. My question is: if I grind that part off, will it work for me? The part looks the same as '67-'76 splash shields except for that bump out.

Attaching photos for more clarity. The rusty one is obviously the scrap yard find. I don't have it in hand, looking to pick it up tonight.

I see the piece you're talking about. The new one is probably missing it because it is not part of the stamping, but a factory spot welded on piece. You might need it on your car. Sometimes aftermarket parts are not very good. I'd stick with good factory pieces whenever you can. I think 67-76 Darts & 70-76 Dusters used the same rear splash shields. (Keeps water & road debris off the door hinges & helps keep noise down in the interior) I could be wrong though. You will get the correct answer here.

I thought I read somewhere that the extra piece is only for Dusters and maybe Dart Sports because the fenders were slightly different. That why I think (hope) I can just cut that part off and use it on these '72 fenders. :)

I'm pretty sure 72-76 Dart fenders are the same. Dart & Dart Sport. Buy the factory one if the price is right & it's in good shape. If you have to remove that piece, just grind the spot welds down & remove it, but I think your car (You said you have a 75 Dart Sport correct?) should have that piece left in place.

It is a '75, but has '72 fenders, hood, grille, etc.

Thats fine, because I'm pretty sure the fenders are still the same. If it was an earlier model, only the side marker lights would be different, I believe everything else is the same.
