Very cool stuff, I always liked the story of this mission...thanks for sharing this

Thank you for posting this reminder of their incredible bravery at the beginning of WWII. The Doolittle raid did so much to bolster the morale of American military and civilians both. It's still hard to believe we were able to bomb mainland Japan only 4 months after the devastating sneak attack that decimated our Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor.
All younger FABO members who don't know much about this part of history need to read up on it. It's an incredible story that should never be forgotten.
God bless all the Raiders.

Also, the raid with "Jimmy Doolittle" in command was but a small part of his life. He worked with Shell oil for many years to improve gasoline octane, engaged with various companies doing experiments with high altitude oxygen experiments, as well as experiments with early navigational aids development. This on top of many successful aircraft races

There was much more, this just off the top of my mind

Great story, great mission, brave crews. I often wonder if that kind of valor still exists. Then I see the kind of people who make up the delta Force and various seal teams, and Rangers, and I know it still does, in spite of a failing government, and the blase' attitude of so many American's today.

Personally, I absolutely loved the B25 Mitchell. Had an opportunity to fly in one about a decade ago. As I recall it was a rather short flight from St. Augustine Fl, to Jacksonville. Too short a time, though. Only a few minutes but it was fantastic.
My favorite of the WWII war birds.
