So I've had a '72 Dart for a couple years that's been on the back burner. Really wanted to make it into a strip only car. It has been totally stripped of interior.
I put in frame connectors.
Mini tubbed it.
Moved springs inward.
Put in a 8.8 Explorer rear, narrowed it.
I have 29 x 9 x1 mt slicks for it.
Have a disc brake front end. Just need calipers and a upper control arm

For motor I picked up a really good running 98 5.9 magnum motor from a truck. I have a intake for it, need distributor.

I have a 727 trans, just need right fly wheel and convertor.

I just want to get track time the rest of the year.

Need cam suggestions.

Wont be fast enough for a roll bar but would like to put in a 5 point harness. Can I just put in a piece of roll bar between doors behind seat so I can use it to put my harness on it?

What kind of cam are you looking at ....Hydraulic lifters...Solid Lifter...

sorry..I see it is a magnum ....Hydraulic Roller

take the stock roller out and sent it to Delta cam in Oregon and have it reground ...best bang for the buck

with the magnum heads unless you have done some work on them...you going to be limited on your valve lift around .520...

you need to make a decision on converter..as far as stall speed..also carb..

Dam I was just in Vancouver, two weeks ago...LOL

Thanks for the Delta cam recommendation. I don't even plan on taking the heads off right now. Next year I'll go through the motor and make a stroker. I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck right now. I also have a plate nitrous I'm looking at exploring the use of.
Rear end has 3.73. I put a mini spool in it. It was cheap enough.

Sounds like it's going to be fun. I don't know if you know it or not, but Hughes offers valve spring retainers that allow a little more retainer to valve guide room if you need it. You're going to need valve springs anyway.

Thank, I'll look into that.

There is a Oregon cam grinder here in Vancouver. I'll give them a call Monday.

is a 98 ford explorer a good rear end for an A body car? my wifes explorer just took a motor chit

1110 Hughes springs, matching retainers, safely .530 lift. Ran into a problem ,With Oregon cam s.All ramps, they have is Comp 1.5 rocker ratios. Be careful. Having the heads trimmed ,on the valve guides, helps immensely.
