I'm taking my dart to Friday nights test and tune. Should I mount my slicks or no. The slicks are 26x 8.5 15 M/T ET DRAGS

The car is a 360 magnum motor stock bottom end and heads, holley 670,rpm airgap, tti headers,a904 transmission with 2200 stall, and a 8 3/4 with 2.76 gears and lockrite locker. I will be driving it to and foment the track. How do you think it will hold up?

Thanks

Sounds like a very reliable ride. While everyone knows a little more stall and gear would make it quicker at the track, I personally have both my Dusters set up about like yours, meaning highway geared.
I actually like the components you picked, what you listed sounds well matched.Does that "stock bottom end" mean stock cam also?

I'm actually unsure of the cam. I bought the long block used from a guy and he couldn't remember the cam he put in it. It's definitely bigger than stock but not radical.
I set it up for highway as i drive it 30 miles one way to work in the summer.

With those gears and torque converter you won't need slicks. But since you will be there for a couple of hours throw your slicks and floor jack in the trunk and bring them. Remove them AND your spare tire and try to run with 1/4 tank of fuel to cut down the weight. Run a few runs with your street tires then switch over to slicks. But only if you are breaking the tires loose when you launch. Warning! When you stage for the first time all these different thoughts are going to run through your head. Blank it all out and just focus on how the car feels all the way down the track. Warning #2. After the evening of drag racing...you will want to go faster. Have fun and let us know how it goes.

I say it depends whether you drive it to the track with the slicks on or not.
Is it 20 miles or 300?
If there is ANY CHANCE of rain I wouldn't even consider it, since you can only do about 45 in the rain with slicks without the rear end constantly hydroplaning.
Been there and done that, and though it's kinda fun it's a pain trying to get somewhere.

no chance of rain at all. and the track is 44 miles from my house. I wasn't sure if you could drive that long on slicks. and is there a constant speed limit for them?

That one I don't know, but Google probably does.

When the light goes green, FLOOR IT!

I prefer the 2nd/ 3rd amber, depending on how the car and you react to the lights.
I'm in motion AS the light turns green

any chance of breaking 13's with my setup?
Yes, there is a chance for sure. In fact, I'd be aiming for 13's.
About the slicks, if they are true slicks, they are not approved for highway use, meaning you could get a ticket.

If you go 15's, there is something wrong. my 318 went low 15's at about 94 mph with a bad bog. Bogs gone so when I get back to the track, I will go 14's. I also have 2.76 gears and I don't have a 2200 stall, nor do I have headers.
You have more motor, exhaust, and stall. 13's with ease...

I was gonna say keep your hand off the shifter on the launch but with those gears you could probably close your eyes and still be ok. Not a chance at 13's with those gears.

You must like slow cars..........

Does your car have a driveshaft loop? If not, be VERY careful launching with the slicks. If they grab, you could be breaking a U-joint or driveshaft (or even an Axle)
Breaking the rear u-joint is annoying, breaking the front one could put you into the wall. I'm not trying to scare you, just be aware of safety and HAVE FUN!!!

Huh...he ain't making enough power to break anything...

13's shouldn't be much of a problem, I had a low compression LA 360 with a small lunati cam in a 68 4dr dart it ran 13.30s at 104 with 2.76 gears...only run 1st and 2nd gear no need to shift to 3rd. I have no clue what rpm I was shifting or went thru the lights at i didnt have a tach in it and I didn't care. The car was a blast.

Don't take this the wrong way but your idea of a blast and mine are two different things. I will have to see a 13 time slip from the original OP to believe it could run 13's
