I have a question for the gurus.

What do you do in this location.

Red box

Admittedly I have not looked close enough at it. But it looks like the floor is sandwiched between the front of the torque box and the firewall.

I believe that's the rocker to frame rail brace it's on top of, and between the bottom of the firewall. If you can clean the lip on the bottom side of that brace, you may be able to drill the spot welds and get the new floor pan knocked in between them. The bottom corner of the firewall looks a little suspect, so don't be surprised if you have to patch it a little.

The floor and the fire wall are spot welded together. The floor is spot welded to the rocker to frame rail brace. If you wire wheel the floor down or hit it with course grain sand paper you should be able to see the spot welds that hold the floor to that brace. There is a gap between that brace and the firewall as seen in this picture taken when I replaced my floor:

Perfect thanks!

Like I said I have not looked at it from under side yet.

Your photo helps so much.

My plan is to do patches rather than full or 1/2 floors

But you don't know what's there till you start cutting.

The tortion bar x member and the front frame rails look new so I'm real happy so far. The photos are deceiving, the car spent the last 39 years in the high desert of co with fine red dust. EVERYWHERE, IN EVERYTHING, COVERING EVERYTHING.

My trash can is coated with the fine red dust.

I pulled 70 pounds of dust out to date.

Another question... It's a convert.... How much more can I remove before bracing. So far the door gaps are the same and lifting the car
by the middle of the of the rocker yelded no change in any gaps
