Floor shift steering column question

Im swapping over to floor shift and bought a column from a member here. I’m rebuilding it now. Is the shift tube on a floor shift model supposed to have a shift tube key? Seems on column there is a key and screw. Mine doesn’t so it lets the shift lever housing to move about 45 degree. Now remember we are working on a floor shift model so the shift lever housing is just the housing. Is this normal???

I believe it’s a 68 barracuda floor shift column

So mine doesn’t have the shift tube key like the picture. So the housing moves with in the slots. And I don’t remember if it did that before I took it apart.

Now I have it all together and it all seems fine but the housing moves.

I also can’t seem to find a illustration on the floor shift model column just a colum Shift.
