Actually........and this is splittin hairs BUT right is right and wrong so...........the correct Ford ratio is 1.73, not 1.72.
The reason why you see so many Ford ratios at 1.72 is because that's the stock ratio for the big block Chevy. So, rather than make two different rockers.......
BUT, most Chevy guys will argue you in the dirt the big block Chevy is 1.7, but that's incorrect. They don't even know their own engines. Every single stock big block I've ever been into had 1.72 stamped right on the rocker.
Both the Cleveland and the 385 series (460) stock ratios are 1.73.
That said, if this swap works well and has a good valve tip sweep, it's a hell of a step up in ratio. You will certainly need to make damn sure of retainer to guide clearance.
