Frame rail size

One of my rear subframe rails on my car has a soft spot, maybe a 2x2in area where it's gotten a little thin from years of NE weather. What gauge steel do I need to buy to patch this spot up?

We have drilled alot of framerail's off of these car's........ but
have never really took a micrometer and checked. I would make an
educated guess, and say 16 gauge. We could take a measurement
tomorrow with a mic, and send the measurement to you. Hope this help's.

I would guess its 11 gauge which is a little less than 1/8 inch. The aftermarket has caps pre-formed for that repair.

I really would rather not cap it since it's such a small spot.
