OK, run into a small snag here.

What size are the front oil galley plugs that go behind the cam thrust plate? I thought they were 19/32" but I am not positive. The ones I have that came in a MP freeze plug package are too small.

Went to the parts store and got Dorman 555-008 and 555-009. The # 008 is just a hair too small, not snug enough and will drop into the galley with one last tap. #009 is too big, can't get it to seat and don't want to crack the block trying to force it in.

Anyone know a part # or specific size for these things?

I do have a few in some older blocks but they are in good. I was going to try to pop them out from the back but the rear threaded plugs are rusted in and I don't have the proper 5/16" square driver...

Better yet, anyone on the North Shore of Long Island have two to spare?

Dorman 555-008 and 555-009.

those are the ones that come in their freeze plug kit...

found a partial kit..and it had the 555-009 plug in it....so?????

So I got the right ones but they are either too loose or tight. Any suggestions Tony?

Though about grinding down the larger ones a few thou. to see if they might fit a little better.

usually they go in tight...have to take a hammer and tap them in...

Yep, working on it right now. Ground one down a bit, tap it, take it out, grind it, tap it some more. It won't go in with light tapping, I don't want to force it too much.

Last ones I put in mushroomed on the edges and left metal shards hanging. Didn't like the way it was so I took 'em out. Probably should have just filed off the loose edge and left them but I do things the hard way.

Got them in. Just took some careful tapping and they are home.

Grinding the O.D. a bit was definitely necessary, they were too tight otherwise.

Time to degree my cam.
