Doing a BBP brake swap on my 72 Dart.

Bought some upper control arms from a dude, thought they were 73-76 a-body. Put in the new ball joints and bushings. Started on the driver side, everything smooth like butter. Move to PS and can't get the control arm on. Measure it and it is 7/16" too wide. Compare it to the SBP upper control arms and it is not the same...I am guessing it is B body? No matter, it won't fit.

So, I had some bushings laying around. I put them into the SBP arms and now am waiting for the new BJs and Dr Diff adapters but he is out til the 27th. Good times.

Just venting. I would be done with the conversion today, but noooo. I messed up 3 months ago when I got the upper control arms from a, I know now, non-reliable fellow.

That figures. Chrysler apparently retained the A frame A body size, and Included the larger bushings and Joints. Great idea, but they didn't tell anybody. Which is why 73-76 BBP parts cars sell fast.

Got any pictures?, or factory stamping numbers? Let's, start there....

I feel your frustration . Several times I have purchased parts from "dudes" only to find out they are wrong . Example : crankshaft . I know I may sound crazy but I am so sick of buying stuff and returning it that I buy just from vendors . After seeing my best friend roll his dodge over 4 times and catch on fire I don't take any chances anymore . Just ain't worth it .

Arms are available new pretty cheap.

Yup, but I have good arms that have the small bj, so I just ordered the adapter bushings from Dr Diff. $45 is less than $199.

I hear ya. My fault for taking his word on the control arms. I think it was an honest mistake on his part, as well.

That is a strange sexual fetish but if it makes YOU happy, have at it...

Thank you for standing up and being in support of all kinds. You and I will have a chance for equal rights one day. ;-)

Car and control arm are in Poteet @ the family farm. I am in Rocksprings, so no pics. I did not find any part numbers on the control arm, it was cleaned thoroughly. F-body? The brakes are off an F-body. The bushings and ball joint that I ordered for a 74 Dart w/disc brakes did fit. In any case, the control arm does not fit the car, period.

The original control arms are installed with new bushings, just waiting on ball joints and adapters now.
