When I fill the gas tank on my 66 Dart, fuel splashes back out the filler opening before the nozzle kicks off. Anyone know what causes this and is there any way to prevent it?
It's messy and annoying.

I have similar problems with my 65 Valiant. I think it is because the filler pipe angle is not much of an angle.

I hold the fuel nozzle at a 90 degree angle, but only fill slowly and listen for it to gurgle as it gets to the top.

Fill it slower this is a common problem with early A's the filler necks and tank venting is not up to modern gas pumps.

No matter how slow I pump, what angle, or how far in or out, it trips the nozzle stop at about five gallons. Even if I wait it trips the pump, and sometimes a little splash.
What can I do so I can actually fill my tank?
