Anybody got any tips for bending fuel/tranny lines?. I'm using a quality bender from Snap-on,the lines are the green coated stuff auto parts stores are selling. It kinks if I try to go 90 degrees and above.Wanted to make my own tranny cooler lines to get away from the headers. Also new fuel lines. Is it the material that these lines are made of ?

I make lines all the time, using standard steel tubing, avail in 25' rolls. Not familiar with green stuff..

If the tool is a "snap-on",, and you're taking your time,, then it's likely the tubing you're using... jmo

the green stuff is just an anti corrosion coating, i use these lines all the time. Can you post a pic of the bender? when running a 90* on what i'll assume is 3/8" you need to keep the tubing TIGHT against bender, or its going to lift and kink.

Who am i kidding! you know all this already!

Get yourself some bending tools. "They" make springs which go 'round the outside, I've never used 'em

In a previous life I maintained HVAC/ R and have Imperial benders which are expensive, BUT THEY WORK

I don't remember, Lisle or KD or someone makes a plastic bender that works OK so long as it's not heavy hydraulic (hi press) or stainless. Also, whether the tube is tempered / annealed (rigid or soft) is, well, a big deal

Most benders that "look like this" one work pretty well

What I have are very much like the photos above.Just got rubber handles. I did a car using the3/8'' green stuff and had no problem. Maybe a bad batch of 5/16'' I got. I talked to someone else and he said he had some that would split when trying to flare. I'll look for another supplier.

I've found that sometimes it helps to put the tool in a vice,, and that frees up a hand to "pull/guide" tubing into "slot"..

I have a few tube benders for diff apps, and close, in-car work..

I'm betting your lines are made "over there". I had similar problems until I got lines made here. It was all in the metallurgy.
