Does anyone use a bypass regulator with a mechanical fuel pump?
Planning a new fuel system for the Scamp and would like to add a return line back to the tank. Currently my set up includes a quick fuel mechanical pump, hot rod series quick fuel carb and 3/8 hard line from tank. Was looking at using the quick fuel bypass regulator part# 30-899qft (which has an adjustable jet for low pressure application??) and run 3/8 return line back to the tank.

yeah, i run one (but with a different regulator)

i used the stock 5/16 line as a return, and put in a new 3/8 hard line

no problem what so ever

Smart idea! Has it helped hot start problems?

thanks

the instructions warned against using to small a return line, which could end up causing a back pressure in the return system, which in turn could raise the fuel pressure at the carb

but no such problems presented itself

(like i mentioned, im using a mechanical fuel pump, so id imagine the amount of fuel that is being returned is rather small anyway, but i thought i would mention it)

How much pressure does your mechanical produce? Needs a bypass?

one of the added benefits of a fuel return system is that the only fuel that sits in the engine bay is in the bowls
the rest of the fuel simply rotates between the tank and the regulator, keeping it much cooler
