Hoping to get some opinions and options.
I'm in the process of building a fuel deliviery system for my car.
The car is a 70 Dart Swinger with a approx 400 hp, single carb motor.
The plan so far is to run the stock tank with an upgraded to 3/8 pickup tube
and sock, canister filter, Holley blue pump, 3/8 steel tubing to the front,
then the regulator set to approx 6 psi.
Do you think a return is required or needed ? The +'s and -'s thereof?
The tank is vented through the filler neck.
Any and all opinions would be appreciated on the best design for this application.
Thanks,
Carl

I haven't yet figured out why people are running high pressure fuel systems on carbureted street cars. The stock mechanical pump would flow plenty of fuel for that engine through 3/8" line and a good filter.

Carl, that Holley blue set up would work fine. You could also get away with a good mechanical pump with 3/8 all the way. I'd run it closer to 7 psi, as long as the needle and seat aren't being overpowered.

Return systems take wear and tear off the pump as it's not loading against the line pressure. Is a return required, no. Return systems also keep a cooler fuel charge in the line.
