Gate vs ratchet for street

Hey guys looking for some opinions here I got a 66 dart straight axle car project going on with 383 30 over and 727 transmission it's going to be more over a street cruiser than full out drag car just tring to figure out the best possible shifter for it the trans is set up for reverse manual valve body thanks in advance

have a turbo action shifter in the barracuda. but used to race a 406 vega w/ a ratchet shifter in it. was really unhandy coming out of a burn out, having to ratchet all the way back to neutral.

I have a tci ratchet shifter in my valiant which is a 383 30 over, with a reverse manual valve body and I really like it. I don't race the car so I haven't had the problem that famous bob had. But I can see how that would be annoying

never used a gate style
but I have a ratchet in mine and I like it (mostly street driven)
I do have a regular valve body though, so most times I just leave it in drive

I use the B&M star shifter on my 727 it is a gate and ratchet combo, best of both worlds and works great and easy to install. Ratchet from 1st to 2nd to drive. Gate mode for reverse and all forward gears as well.
