Gauges not working

I just put my instrument panel back in after replacing the voltage limiter.
Now none of the gauges work.
I wonder if it is a grounding problem?
Any suggestions

lights? fuse? just a suggestion...i always go chasing my tail before i start simple

Lights and fuses good. I did notice that the radio and heater blower fan don't work. I checked voltage to and from the limiter and I have 12 going in and 5 coming out. I also have 5 volts to the next gauge.
The amp meter is not working and it is independent of other 3 gauges.

The guages shouldn't need the cluster grounded to work. There is a problem with pins breaking on the circuit board. The ammeter should work if you have the black and red wires connected.

I noticed that one or two of the pins were loose. Looks like I am pulling it out to solder them up. The amp meter has got me baffled. I was sure I had the lines on correctly. Would that make a difference?
Any other Ideas.

There quite old, and when disturbed can start acting up. Just perhaps your big connector on the cluster is loose. Pull it off, inspect it, then replace it again ensuring it's tight. Try again, if no go, reach up under the dash with your right hand and wiggle the connecter while watching your cluster to see if there's any change for good or bad. You could also pull the connecter off and meter each female pin area to ensure you have voltage..(some pins will not of course).
Sometime's when "this" connecter is pulled off the pins/wiring get loose/broken.

Shouldn't have to remove the dash or cluster to inspect the connecter. If your lucky there should be just enough slack to pull it down alittle? You may blow your neck out of course trying to look up under the dash. :sad1: I understand your problem..(been there, like many), however if you have tried just about everything...you just may have to take the cluster out again :cussing:

Well, I ended up pulling the dash panel out. Several if the pins were loose. I soldered them and they are not lose now. I had mentioned that i put the solid state voltage limiter in. I i know when i had it hooked up i had 12 volts in and 5 out. I have the voltage limiter in the gas gauge. I just cut it out and bolted up the solid state voltage limiter. 'You seem to have had some experience with this. Do you have any tips?

Update on gauges.
I finally got all the gauges working. Soldering the cluster pins was a big help. I would encourage anyone who is tackling this project to solder them if they are a little bit lose. It is nice to have dash light again too.
