There quite old, and when disturbed can start acting up. Just perhaps your big connector on the cluster is loose. Pull it off, inspect it, then replace it again ensuring it's tight. Try again, if no go, reach up under the dash with your right hand and wiggle the connecter while watching your cluster to see if there's any change for good or bad. You could also pull the connecter off and meter each female pin area to ensure you have voltage..(some pins will not of course).
Sometime's when "this" connecter is pulled off the pins/wiring get loose/broken.
