gear difference

I have found a guy local to me who has a 8 3/4 gear pot with 3:90 open gears for $200. Price seems right but what kind of rpm would I be getting with the 24" tires, {4000rmp at 60mph} with the 4:56 gears now, how much of a change would it be and would it be worth while to keep looking for a 3:55.

some will say yeah go get it. it is not going to make a world of difference but it will be some for sure. i would not spend the money for 2 different gear swaps in a row myself. did you check with crackedback? al as i said you would be likeing the car alot more with a comfortable gear ratio you can live with on the street.....3.55 will be fine for your car plus you can wind it out alittle more between shifts.

Keep looking 'til you find what you want. 3.91s aren't that much better for the street.

Hello ram250098. A 24" tire turns 835 revolutions per mile. At 60mph with
a 3.90 gear gives you approx 3256 rpm. A set of 3.55 = about 2964 at 60mph.
Take whatever gear ratio you want and multiply by 835 to see what rpm at
60 mph. Hope this helps.
