We did it!
GLD wins the vote...
A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped Great Lakes Dragaway be declared the most historically significant dragstrip!
Thousands of our fans voted and got their friends to vote for us on bangshift.com's recent poll.
As posted by BangShift:
"This was the biggest poll we've ever had on the site[,] and it was a dog fight right down to the end with both Great Lakes Dragaway and George Ray's Wildcat Drag Strip [each] receiving thousands of votes for the title of most historically significant operating drag strip. In the end[,] it was Great Lakes Dragaway, the longest continuously operating strip in the country, taking the bragging rights as winner in this fight. The track has hosted every race known to mankind, some things that still aren't know[n] to mankind, and generations of people in the midwest have spent days, nights, and weekend at the track racing and spectating.
The supporters of GLD came out in force!"
Indeed.
We couldn't have done it without you great folks. All of us are now standing together, proudly declaring "we have stood the test of time." Or, as I like to say: "Welcome to Great Lakes Dragaway; standing the test of time since 1955!"
Please pass this on to all your friends who helped vote that may not be on our email list. Are you one of said friends reading this? Sign up to get these newsletters straight to your inbox by going here: http://visitor.r20.constantcontact.com/manage/optin/ea?v=001PhdQ1BjzXNRgKtIczwPhQA==

OPENING DAY IS TOMORROW!
Although the weather looks unfriendly... we still fully intend to open tomorrow for the kick off of our opening week race for only the price of spectator admission, if at all possible! If anything changes, I will let you know via email ASAP. Stay tuned....
