Glove box knob removal?

how do you remove the glove box knob? its in a 73 dart sport if that matters. thanks

putting it back in is another story too... i could never push the tab in to get it back in the door with the same tool i used to to get it out, so i wrapped a piece of sewing thread around it like ten times, push it in with some thread still hanging out, and then just pull the rest of the thread out and the tab stays in place
