What year did the GOLD DUSTER tape stripe on the front fender start?

1972 - my dad had one! Slant 6 and all. Oh, and it happened to be a light yellowish or gold color as well. It had stickers on the front fenders that said "Gold Duster."

The Plymouth Gold Duster was new for the 1972 model year. Gold Duster was a trim and appearance package on the base Duster model (VL). The highlight of the package was the, also new for 1972, canopy vinyl top. The vinyl top was free as part of the package. In addition to the canopy vinyl top, the Gold Duster also included drip rail moldings, gold rear deck stripe, available gold body side stripe, Deluxe wheel covers with whitewall tires on 14"x5.5" wheels, carpeting, vinyl interior trim, and "Gold Duster" decals on the front fenders. The package sales code was A64. The following picture shows a reprint of the 1972 Gold Duster announcement ad with additional details.

And don't say 1970 or 1971 or you are guessing.
Is this a trick question? If you know it’s not 70 or 71 why not ask if it was 72 or 73? Seems like a fishing expedition.

Don't know for sure, thought the folks here would know or have owned them.

So does the A64 show on the fender tag for these cars? A64 is not in the 69-71 GG white book.

Sales code A64 was used 1972-1975 for the Gold Duster, and does appear on the Gold Duster fender tag.

Example 1975 tag:

I know proof positive that I had a 71 gold duster.
413 can believe me or not. Maybe he should do some research also instead of relying on everyone else. Kim

Kim, this is why I started this thread. Appreciate all the info here. Look at all the conflicting answers.

Besides the tape ID on the fender how did you know it was a gold duster?

It had gold duster stickers on the car. This was back in 78-81. I’m not sure they were in the stripe or under the stripe

Looking further, the initial Gold Duster package was released as shown in the foregoing ads in mid 1970 to celebrate the sales of 100000 Dusters. The largely appearance based package included Gold Duster decals, stripes, dual horns, whitewall tires, drip rail moldings, and bucket seats. The package was carried over into 1971. It seems it was a less formal package without a separate sales code like the code A64 used in 1972-1975 and did not include the canopy vinyl roof released in 1972.

Found online is the following picture of a 1970 Gold Duster.
