Has anyone bought, or seen, the fiberglass hoods that are manufactured by Unlimited Products in Hesperia CA?
I want to put a fiberglass hood on my car ('72 Valiant), but I don't want something that is hard to install, going to crack, or looks terrible.

If you know of a company that sells a quality fiberglass hood and bumper, please let me know. I just need a flat hood; no scoop.

Thanks for any information!!!

Bill

Yes, my Valiant's sheetmetal is identical to a Duster's from the front bumper back to the windshield. Basically, it's a 4-door Duster... lol! Fourteen pounds heavier, shipping-weight wise.... but, all of it's over the rear wheels, (rear doors) so, I guess that's not too bad.... :)

Thanks a lot for the links. I'll check 'em out!!!!

Unlimited should be at the bottom of your list (or not even on it). For me, AAR is at the top.

I seem to remember someone here had trouble in thier dealings with Unlimited. Stay away!

AAR is top dog IMHO, their phone response leaves a lot to be desired but their product makes up for it.

As far as what I have seen, AAR is the only way to go. Their quality is second to none and fit and finish is great.

AAR makes quality stuff,i've got their sixpack hood on the duster, very happy with fit/finish...

Thanks for the good advice. Gotta get a bigger piggybank, now, though; AAR is sure proud of their stuff, but then, the best always costs more. That's why it costs more to build a Mopar than a Furd or a Chebby...8)

As far as AAR being the best, I have to say they are on the bottom of my list. I bought a bolt on hood for my ' 69 Cuda trucked it to LA from Florida got it into a friends shipping container and eventually got it here to Australia only to find it is a piece of JUNK. With the four corners sitting in place it is nearly an inch high on both sides and across the back, the front fits OK but the problem there is it's about 3/8" too short. This hood owes me about $1000 Australian and is absolutely useless.

Good luck

Man; that sucks! Have you told AAR about this debacle?

You are the first person I've heard from who's had a bad experience with AAR.

Guess in business, it can happen anywhere, but that hood seems to have MULTIPLE problems.

I want to see how they handle your situation before I buy anything from them.

Thanks for the post, and good luck. I hope you get this straightened out to your satisfaction.

Stay away from Unlimited Products! A few years ago I bought a hood from them. They had molded the insert in on a skew. Couldn't close the hood without it hitting the fender. WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP. A few of my buddies had similar experiences, but didn't tell me until it was too late. LOL

You're about the fifth person who's told me that.

Thanks for the good advice!!!

Bill: AAR makes a good quality product. I've seen their hoods on many cars. But, as you know, the choice is yours.

Sorry to hear of your problem but you are certainly in the minority in that aspect..you are the only person i ever heard complain about AAR,then again the hood went from Fla. to L.A. to Australia, lots of things can happen during shipping....

I've got to admit that they usually seem to make pretty good stuff, I did a lot of research on this and other Mopar forums before buying and everyone said they were very happy with AAR. There wasn't any damage to the hood or the box it came in either, it just plain doesn't fit ANYWHERE. Not much sense in trying to send it back, it's just too big and would cost hundreds of dollars on top of what I've already burned!

Please don't by a hood from unlimited. They are made like s__t. I bought a bolt on style and the threaded holes were put in the wrong locations, the rear angle was straight instead of curved in, and the under side was rough. Got rid of it cheep, lost money on that deal.

I had a complete front end from Unlimited and didn't think it was all that bad. I think I got what I paid for. As everyone has said, there are better quality parts on the market, and I will pay the extra dollars now but, at the time I built my '74 Cuda, I did what I thought I had to do, and was happy.

We got ours from US Body Scource. Shipping was half price and the product and service quite good.

Another down under story. I got a six pack hood from unlimited as it was the cheaper way to go, and yes the fit was not perfect, and required a bit of sanding and some sloting of the hinges but it was a taller scoop than the AAR which was what I wanted. But if I lived where you are, I'd definately go for the AAR.
