She's a beaut Clark!
I picked up a disassembled 64 273 yesterday that's destined for my Valiant wagon. It's .040 over with forged pistons and no ridge. Everything is so clean it must have recently been rebuilt. Story on the disassembly is, there was water in the oil so they tore into the engine, could not find the source of the oil so it was replaced with a known good running engine. Turns out after additional cleaning that the timing cover had a pinhole leaking coolant into the pan. Score for me! Plans are to reassemble the engine with a Schneider solid cam, rings, bearings, good timing chain and go through the heads. I am also going to convert the car from a 3 speed column shift to a 4 speed. If anyone has a 122 tooth flywheel, clutch fork, 64-65 Hurst shifter or 64-65 floor hump I will be needing these parts. Hope to take pics along the way. Also, I am going to go through the suspension and brakes at the same time. I have lots of options (read parts) but haven't made up my mind what front brakes and rearend to go with. I have Wilwood discs, rebuilt 10" drums w/matching 7 1/4 or 73-76 discs. As far as rears, my options are 7 1/4, sbp and bbp 8 3/4 or 8 1/4. Decisions, decisions. Any input is welcome and appreciated. PM me if you have any of the 4 speed parts I need.
