I had a chance this week to go to a local U Pull it and found 95 Dodge Van with a 5.9 Liter in it. Took me forever to get them out but I got me a set of Mag heads.

One question I have though. I have an 86 318 with 302 heads and when comparing the 302's to the Mag heads I noticed that one of the water jackets in the middle of the Mag head was bigger than the 302. I didn't measure it but it seemed to be almost a 1/2" bigger (longer). Is this anything I should be concerned about?

I am at work now and can take some pics and post them when I get home.

Off no concern, get Magnum head gaskets.

You don't need magnum head gaskets, LA's work just fine. But you do need magnum intake gaskets because of the vertical intake mounting holes. The LA intake gaskets will move out of position and cause an intake leak (been there done that).

Hey,
I retrofitted Magnum Heads to an LA 360 block, you could use the LA Head gaskets. You WILL NEED the special lifters and push rods from "Jeep", you can't use a roller cam in an LA block with Magnum heads- you'll never have oil pressure up top becuase the lifter bosses are not tall enough. The Magnum heads oil through the push rods and MP has those parts, look in the 04 MP book in the Jeep section for the part numbers, if, of course that is what I understand you are doing. You will also need the Magnum intake gaskets. If you are going to use LA valve covers, get the HD reuseable LA valve cover gaskets, the covers will match up to 5 of the 10 bolt holes, but fill the unused holes with silicone. Intakes, you can use the MP intake, the Edel intake or the Professional Products intake. I myself have the Prof Products intake, looks just like the Edel but has both bolt patterns.
