Got ripped off today

took a job the other day from some guy who I thought might be a friend. He had a 383 and a lakewood bell that I was going to trade out some labour for. i was to spray a couple of rooms with primer for his old lady and that was that. Needless to say it was a whole lot more than he made it out to be. I told his wife I would do the job for the motor and bell and some coin. agreed. So I go to work 25 hours later at $25 and hour I get the rooms sprayed. Yesterday she call and say she need to settle up on what they owe and that she wants some more work done. I tell here $625 by the hour but I would break even with her for just the motor and bell that is not worth anywhere close to $625. She wobbles and says she has to talk to her old man but she wants me to come in the morning and sray the other cielings. I say cool I will be there about 1100. I called last night to see if I could pick up the motor and they wouldnt answer the call or return my call. I knew then something was up. Show up today and all of my tools are out on the porch and she comes out says shes not happy and that they arent going to pay.

Should have know this guy and his wife were POS and I should have done my standard contract with them. I got FXXX but I let them do it to me. Oh well i didnt wnat a POS 383 anyway. The worst part is I put up with that ***** for 3 days and didnt get squat. She was such a pain in the *** that I almost walked off the job twice and then this. Just goes to show you that even some MOPAR folks are *** holes to.

FXXX a BB maybe I will just build my 318 in the dart and be happy with that.
 
Man, that sucks. Some people are just total a$$holes. :angryfir: You didn't make them sign any kind of contract?
 
normally I do but if its my friend i dont. This time i got burned but you cant go around being afraid to trust those you think are your friends. I lost 25 hours but they lost a whole lot more. I guess if they can sleep at night, but ofcourse people like that always make themselves out to be the victim. In the end they will get theres. I have a very good reputation in town and I have already told alot of my friend the deal, no one will have anything to do with them pretty soon. the word will spreed and they wont be able to hire the homeless to work for them.
 
When it comes down to it, your word is all you're worth. If your word ain't worth crap neither are you. In my book Chad is priceless :thumrigh:
 
that is a fact sixpac. Hey Craig when you coming down for a couple of shot of Patron. You should here the duster now. She is bad a hell. I pulled into Joe with today he said he thought he was at the races.
 
I'm gonna try to get back there as soon as I can. I can just imagine how the Duster must sound and run :shock: Joe must be happy with the way that 340 turned out. What did you end up doing for the exhaust system?
 
just bolted some cherry bombs on it ans called it good. She is loud and proud and hals with that 391 gear :D :D :D :D
 
Man, Chad that sucks! :( , I don't understand people sometimes, I couldn't look at myself in the mirror after doing that to someone.

I just put a non mopar car up for sale, a guy comes by, and really likes it alot, so he says I want the car, but I'm 100.00 short so I'll have to go borrow it from my sister, I'll be back in a half hour to an hour, then he says so it's sold right (so I wont sell it out from under him while he gets the money) and shakes my hand as I say yes it's yours, I'll even pull off the for sale signs. He leaves, and another guy comes by and I say sorry it's sold, and the guy that was going to borrow 100.00 never came back or even called.....I was pissed!
Some people are just messed up, I guess it's how your raised :dontknow:
 
Chad take them to small claims. You do not need a contract. Verbal is good enough. It will cost maybe $50 to file the claim. They will get served and have 20 dya's to respond, at least in Iowa. They have to give you a chance to make it right. They did not!! you will win. Don't stand back and take it, f#ck them right back. They might just settle when they get served.
 
I would Brett, I have a friend here thats and attorney and he said the same thing but I wont be here. I leave for AL in 60 days and he said the way the courts system is around here that I would be lucky to go to court in 6 months.

I am not going to worry about it. They will need some thing before its over. I am th one who took everything apart and I have half the hardware and am the only who knows how to put it back together :D
 
the only leverage I need. Just enough time to tell them to FXXX off and eat **** and bark at the moon.

I am lucky like you Brett I dont raly need the money and I found myself a 440 already built. So they can **** off.
