There are some really great books that have come out in the last few years. Recently finished reading “Maximum Performance- Mopar Super Stock Drag Racing 1962-1969” by Jim Shild (can never get enough in depth Max Wedge insight vs. the typical basic general info that is so common) Then there is “Sox & Martin- The Most Famous Team On Drag Racing” by Jim Shild, another great in depth book from their beginning till their end, and what is really an outstanding and very insightful new book which I’m now finishing up is “Chrysler’s Motown Missile” by Jeff Stunkard. This one for me is one that is hard to put down. All great reading, informative and motivational. Next one on my list is “We Were The Ramchargers ” by Dave Rockwell which seems is out of print and not readily available. What else is out there that are must reads???

Just an update for those that like to read an actual book, especially such as this one: “We Were The Ramchargers” which has become available again, got my hardcover copy through Amazon. A little pricey ($55+ shipping/tax) but IMO more than worth it. Some really interesting insight into how the team came about all the way to the end of the team. Starting on Chapter 3, the early stages of the High & Mighty team car, and it’s getting really good, check out some of the photos from the beginning of that chapter! A lot of the content in the book including ample photos have never before been seen/revealed, sourced from those involved. Gotta love some Mopar history!

This has to be one of the best books ever written regarding the race 440. Hands down.

I hope I have time this year to build a tribute tunnel ram like that to hang in my garage. Be a great conversation starter. Steve

The ingenuity, creativity and improvising at the beginning is impressive, things like the Norton motorcycle single cylinder engine being similar in displacement (to the Hemi’s cylinder) and it’s exhaust with megaphone that inspired their design. Never knew why those pipes on the car were so wild looking. Inspired by a Norton!
