OK.... just formulated an offseason plan.
Race season is over for me
Here is what i have now...
Bone stock 360 shortblock
Stock rods, crank, replacement cast factory spec pistons(+30)
Howards mech flat tappet cam( 260/264 565/ 565... on a 106, in at 102
Dougs headers(d453)
Eddie heads, modest port work, would guess maybe 270-275 max flow... 58cc
Airgap
950 hp
4.30 gear
28 drag radial
904
5k flash vert
3300 ish with driver
Typical ET’s... 11.30’s in good spring/ fall air, 11.50/11.55 dead of summer air.

New combo
418 shortblock+40 340 block, 4 inch forged Scat crank, Scat rods, Forged flattop pistons( Icon) that are somewhere 5-7 above deck( have to check again). Likely use( after verifying clearance) a 45 cometic gasket. Somewhere 12.5/ 12.7 compression i am thinking
Gasket matched Weiand excellerator
Same carb
Same cam
Same heads
Same gear, tire, vert

any guesses on ET... good air/ summer air?

I don't see how your combo could possibly make 950 horse, unless you forgot to mention nitrous/blower/something.

Its been a best of 11.26 before. That was with a 727. I swapped in a 904 hoping to see an improvement on the slip, but best ever is 11.33 with the 904.
Obviously i missed on the convertor.
I am hoping to see about 5 tenths. Figure the cubes and compression are good for 3-4 tenths.
Figure this new deal will like a 260@ 50 cam much better than a 9.5-10 to 1 360 did. And i hope the new motor will be more suited to the convertor. We will see. Hoping for 10.75 ish.

I would say... in good air.. sea level. 10.40's@126-129

mine is pretty close to that, although cam is a little different. I'm still tuning and it's running 11.2's @7000ft da (so far), which would easily put mine in the 10.7ish range at sea level. Either way, sounds like a certified ripper.

I would love you guys to be right.
But the car is 3300 ish with me, and the heads are FAR from max effort
Thing is gonna weeze like a 3 pack a day 90 year old at probably the 1000 foot mark drinking air through a straw.

.40 quicker in summer air. (11.10)
.40 quicker in good air. (10.90)

Don, your new build is similar to my old 408, 260/264° at .050, 106° in at 102°, .626/.633" with 1.6 rockers, 10.8-1, Curtis Boggs ported Edelbrocks, 727, 9.5" converter that flashed 5400, Victor with a Bigs 950HP, Hedman Husler 1 7/8" 3 1/2" headers, 4.10 S-60, 28" drag radials, Cal-Tracs and mono's.

It ran 6.57 @ 104 with 1.38-1.40 60' at 3260# on pump 93. I shifted at 6400 as it slowed down with anything over 6600 or less than 6400, it was running out of cylinder head. Dave Hughes said it would've been faster with a smaller cam, take that with a dump truck load of salt.

IMHO, you are going to run out of head sooner than I did. As you know I'm don't have much experience with 1/4 mile racing, but feel with your gear and heads it'll lay down on the big end. Your car works well so my guess is 6.70'-.80's, possibly .60's on very good conditions.

This and $1.75 will buy you a cup of coffee in some places.

Looks very similar to my current motor as well, except you have a 904 (I have a 727) and my Eddy's flow 293 @ 0.600, and my cam is a step bigger (264-268 @0.05 with ~0.630 lift IIRC). The only thing I would do differently would be put a Victor on it.....With that said, it would not surprise me to see it in the 10.4-10.6 range (really depends on what the heads flow). We will have to see come spring time.

Edit: just re-read...I thought you were going to use an Air-gap, that is why I said switch to a victor...carry on.:D
