?? Seriously? Just from a tecknology view the later engine will have a few advantages like feul inj and roller cam. Make a few more ponies and use less gas doing it

The 77 was around 150 HP and the 99 was 245.

yep, but to retrofit it in place of an la it needs the snout extension on the cam, pushrod, fuel pump eccentric, la timing cover, carb intake and distributor. nice thing is the serpentine drive for the accessories.
If you have an la you already have most of this. the cam snout extension and eccentric are available from hughes.

Perfectly easy swap though for someone with an old stock 360. nice step up in power. They have good low end torque and are great for the street.
