Half Vinyl Top with Moonroof

How are these things "cut" to fit the moonroof? Are they folded under to the underside of the roof skin? Is there a trim ring/pieces of trim around the moonroof or something? All of my moonroof cars always had the vinyl top removed before I got the cars, so I don't know if I'm missing parts

My '73 needs a new top and I have the material on hand to replace the top. When my dad installed the current top, he never cut it for the moonroof (just installed it right over the moonroof)

You are correct in your thinking. the vinyl wraps under the roof lip and is glued down around the perimeter of the moonroof on that flange that is about 3/8-1/2 wide. That is what I remember when I had mine. If I'm wrong then I'm sure someone will correct me.
