hi all, working on plumbing the front brakes in a drum to disc conversion (1965 valiant to 1976 duster front end). i'm a little confused as to what i'd need to have a well-working system - everyone seems to have a slightly different view on what's needed.

i came up with a simple diagram:

do i need to plumb in a stock distribution block as well? i have one from the donor 76. or can i run just the adjustable proportioning valve in the rear line?

the consensus on FABO seems to be plumbing the oem distribution block in plus the adjustable proportioning valve in the rear.

however, a number of other sources, including the mopar action online "stop on a dime" article and tom condran's book says to chuck the oem block and just splice in an adjustable proportioning valve.

what else will i need in there? a safety switch? btw i'm not building a race car, just want the discs to stop me better than the drums did.

thanks!

I think that will work fine. Part of the function of the stocker is the warning lamp switch, and I've never seen a need. YOU will know by the pedal, if you have a problem. Also, the old original 76 valve/ block may well be gummed up inside.

No need for a distribution block as you have it there. It will work fine.

Yup That's all, in reality, that the factory dist. blocks are, a "simple Tee" except for the warning switch in the drum/ tandem blocks, and the switch/ prop valve in the front disc blocks.
