When I put the heads back on my 360 I used the head gaskets from a set I'd bought at a swap meet. I was in a hurry and they'd only fit if I flipped one over. Anyway the motor runs fine but I can't keep it from over heating at slow speeds. I've tried new radiator, shroud, electric fan, timing, all the usual suspects with no help. Can the head gasket be plugging an opening maybe? Seems like any other head gaskets I've used always had the top marked. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I'd go through everything again before pulling headgaskets again. Thermostat, water pump, are pulleys correct, belt tension, radiator flow, proper cap pressure, etc. Were block cavities checked for flow or restrictions? Could radiator hose be collapsing? Air flow through grill ok? Hopefully you'll find something simple. Mike

Placement & size of the holes in the head gaskets has a lot to do with the control of water flow through the heads. You might have to replace them.

If they're incorrect for your application,i'd say they're blocking off water passages, which is causing your overheating problem.....
