Head Studs

I would say when you get to the 12.5:1 compression, 15psi or over turbo/blower and a high HP NOS setup. I run 14:1 compression (with studs) and still had to find the right head gasket to keep them from blowing out.

well,no 12.5:1 and no turbos or NOS so i should be ok!!!.....can you tell me about your 14:1 BEAST!!!! :headbang:

The problem with using studs is you can not pull the head off easy in the car. The brake booster gets in the way-not to say you can not remove it but it makes more work. I would not use head studs unless needed.

ARP makes broached studs now so you can pull the studs out easily.

Yep, they have an allen head recess in the top of the stud so you can spin 'em out with a t-handle allen key.

so the "It's to much stuff to take off" excuse isn't valid anymore.
