Can anyone direct me to a solution for my 66 Barracuda? I would like to get a pair of headers that don't require cutting through the fenders. Various people have warned me this could cause the front end to sag. I have called Dougs, TTi, Hedman and Hookers....no luck. The big issue is W2 Racing Heads... Any suggestions?

I thought w2 heads had multi pattern exhaust, so that you could use any style header? There was a guy on here who used TTI with his sb Stroker in a early A and did not cut his fenders.

some do and some dont have the dual bolt pattern...so it depends on which version of the w2 head you have...and the standard LA exhaust header does not fit the w2 exhaust port very well...

going to be pretty hard to find a non fenderwell w2 header..given most of the w2 header were 1 7/8"...

hooker and hedman used to make them....not very popular any more.

Rick;

It can be done. First you'll need to be able to weld or get a welder for this.

Second, a little extra spare pipe. To connect the header to the new flange, your going to loose a little pipe. The standard header has the pipe crimped a bit and the new W2 pattern has a bigger opening.

The adjustments can be made.

Thanks Rumble. Looks like he'll have his work cut out for him or have a set made....for some large cash i would suspect:smile:. Could maybe hope for another member to have a set, but talking them out of um' might be a little difficult.

Thanks Rumble and Rick. I had a feeling my only option was to have a custom pair made. It's all good though I saved a bundle on the engine build. I knew somewhere along the way I would have a few hiccups. I had my fingers crossed that someone might have a trick up their sleeve.

I have a link to the engine.. It has some differences in the carb, the build is basically the same though. I lucked out and Cascar changed the rules on the original owner rendering the engine useless to him.

Is there any truth to the front sagging with a fender cut out?

Is this a track only or street strip car. There are plenty of people running no inners, but you need to reinforce from the firewall to the rails for strength. Full roll cage cars will tie all the way into the front bars near the dash. Not sure if you want to do alot of cutting on a mainly street car though.
I'll look for some photos and post later what i find.

It's a street/strip car. I prefer up keep the cutting down.

I think you need to chat with member, pettybluedart. He's running 10's and has fenderwell headers and i'm not sure if he has reinforced or not.
If you do a member search im sure he has some photos.

I found a few picks so far but neither is probably what you would be looking for.

Call tti back and talk to Sam. Ask if they can put a w2 flange on the 636A headers. Sometimes they are willing to do that.

That a great idea, you the man.

Lock, the more i look around the more i see most street cars don't do much other then cutting out the minimum amount and letting it eat.

Would be nice to have some luck with crackedback's idea. That would be the best solution.
