Headlight Lens Repair Questions

My headlight lenses on my wife’s 99 Altima are real dull & cloudy. I thought about replacing them but now I see that there are some restoration kits available. Has anybody tried anything like this? Does it really work? Here’s a couple I was looking at:

Don't waste your money!
If they aren't too bad just buff them with polishing compound. If they are really yellow I use 1000 grit wet sandpaper and sand the grime off and buff with a makita buffer with 3M Per-fect-it buffing compound and they look brand new when done.

you can also use toothpaste to clean em' up.

I have two ways of doing this:
1) using compond for buffing a car you can use a car polisher to do a great job.
2) or get a small air polishing drill and buff it with the same compond
