hy guys been doing some searching on heads for my 390 build not 100 percent sure what i should get. i found a few out there the ones im leaning the most on are the rhs la x heads the reason because it looks like they have the best flowing heads but i would like to put aluminum heads but all i found was edlbrock the power i was hoping to get was 400ish thats with forged pistions i beam rods and the compression ratio at 10.1 let me know what you guys think

if you want just 400 horse, for the price and ootb flow i dont think you could go wrong with rhs la x. for your apllication i dont think there is a need to go aluminum.

Couple of thoughts :

1 - If you go with the RHS, just make sure you use an appropriate piston to avoid excessive compression. Iron heads in any shape or form are less forgiving as far as detonation goes.

2 - The OOTB flow figures publicised for both RHS and Eddy will be "adequate" for a 400 HP build -

- but Brian from IMMs ported RHS heads are a real deal and your 390 will love you for them.

Strokers lurve runner volume etc.

(Of course this all depends on what cam you choose - but I'm assuming it'll be something in the .500 + lift 235 duration area?)

RHS heads are about the best deal going from what I've seen. Aluminum Eddy's are nice to shave a few lbs. off the front end but they don't make any more power OOTB than RHS heads do.
